Wargames
A refight of the Battle of Towton
(with thanks to Hertfordshire Volunteers wargames club)
As a lifelong wargamer, I've finally written one - a rules supplement book for the second edition of Warlord Games' popular Hail Caesar rules, which allow you to refight historical battles from the Biblical period up to the Renaissance.
My book focuses on the Wars of the Roses, a series of dynastic conflicts that took place mostly in 15th Century England as aristocratic families struggled for power. As a distinct episode in history, the Wars of the Roses gave us plenty of material for the likes of William Shakespeare and George R. R. Martin to work with.
As my first wargaming book, it's been fun to work with the Warlord team, and I'm hoping my approach of trying to capture the feel of the period over absolute historical accuracy is one people appreciate.
The book is available on the Warlord Games website, and you can see a couple of reviews of it on YouTube here and here.
You can also read my Designer Diary notes on the rules here.
