Serious Games
Whereas recreational games are fun hobbies, serious games (sometimes "simulations" or "exercises") are useful tools that can help test ideas in a safe-to-fail environment; it's better to crash an economy, or fail to effectively respond to an emergency, on paper than in reality.
The aim is to create a valuable experience which highlights limitations, or potential avenues for investigation, through memorable gameplay that participants will be enthused to take part in.
Facilitation
With my professional background, I know what's needed to create the environment for a successful exercise.
If you are in need of someone to help you organise a team-building event which is a little different, a facilitator to assist running a professional exercise, or someone to help you gain value from a debrief session, get in touch on Twitter or the email below.
I have experience facilitating and taking part in serious games for organisations that include:
UK Parliament
Ministry of Defence
King's College London
Cambridge University Press & Assessment
UK blue light emergency services
Network Rail and Train Operating Companies
Design
Please also get in touch if you are looking for serious game design, which may have educational or training outcomes based on your needs.
Some designs are simple tabletop systems that can explain a concept to senior stakeholders, whilst others might be larger affairs that are designed to test team planning across multiple departments.
All it takes is an email and a quick to see what your requirements are, and we can go from there.
